SCULPTURE
In many of Spronken’s sculptures we meet the multi-layered form and the clear separation of inside-outside as interchangeable aspects of one single reality, one single moving forever. Perhaps this leads us back to ancient time and other cultures, especially to intuitions such as expressed by Lao-Tseu: is the void inside the core of the wheel not what makes it move, and is the void of the jar not its fullness? Once we have got to the heart of the sculpture we may indeed relax and see the book of pages or the leaves shaken and almost lose its equilibrium – to our great delight.
